The Fool Says, There Is No God
1-3, Folly and Wickedness 4-6, Culpability and Judgment 7, Salvation and Gladness
(14:1) The fool says in his heart, 'There is no God.' They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none who does good.
Psalm 14 falls into three parts. The first, 14:1–3, contemplates the folly and wickedness of those who rebel against Yahweh and against his anointed (cf. 2:1–3). The second, 14:4–6, reflects on the culpability and coming judgment of the wicked. The third, 14:7, asks who will give the salvation that will cause gladness and rejoicing for God’s people.
