A Call to Yahweh in Distress
1–2, Enemies Rise and Declare No Salvation in God 3–4, Confidence in Yahweh 5–6, Fearless Sleep 7–8, Rise Up Yahweh to Whom Salvation Belongs
(3:4) I cried to the LORD with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill. (3:1) LORD, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me.
In Ps (3:1–2) David’s adversaries “rise” against him and declare that there is no salvation for him in God. In (3:7–8) David calls on Yahweh to “rise” against his enemies and declares that salvation belongs to Yahweh. David communicates his confidence in Yahweh in (3:3–4), and that confidence gives him fearless sleep in (3:5–6).
