1-5, David prays to be delivered from his enemies. 6-7, He complains of their cruelty. 8-10, He trusts in God. 11-15, He prays against them. 16-17, He praises God.
(59:13) Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be; and let them know that God rules in Jacob to the ends of the earth. (59:1) Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; defend me from those who rise up against me.
Psalm 59 has a structure with two turning points marked by selah. It consists of three sections: Deliver Me, That They May Know, and Your Lovingkindness, with repeated descriptions of the wicked.
