Notes

The statements of Ps 62 appear to fall into two verse units: David’s description of himself waiting on God in (62:1–2) seems to set up a warning to his enemies in (62:3–4). He then restates (62:1–2) in (62:5–6), this time commanding himself to wait for God, which in turn sets up a call for those aligned with him to trust God (62:7–8). Reinforcing the call to wait for God and trust him, David describes the vanity of human solutions in (62:9–10), before heralding God’s strength, lovingkindness, and justice in (62:11–12).
