God's Abundant Favor to Earth and Man
1-3, David praises God for his grace. 4-13, The blessedness of God's chosen by reason of benefits.
(65:4) Blessed is the man You choose, and cause to approach You, that he may dwell in Your courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, of Your holy temple. (65:1) Praise is awaiting You, O God, in Zion; and to You the vow shall be performed.
Psalm 65 seems to fall into three parts. In (65:1–4) David praises God because the Lord hears prayer, atones for sin, and draws his chosen near. In (65:5–8) David celebrates the fact that God answers prayer in creation-dominating righteousness. Finally, in (65:9–13) David hymns the way God blesses the land.
