Key Verse

(7:8) Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the just; for the righteous God tests the hearts and minds. (7:1) O LORD my God, in You I put my trust; Save me from all those who persecute me; and deliver me,

Notes

Ps 7 fills in more of the picture being painted in Pss 3–6; Psalms 3–4 dealt with the night of David’s flight from Absalom, then Ps 5 presented David’s morning-after-crisis-affirmation that Yahweh is just. In Ps 6 David insisted that Yahweh not treat him as Ps 2 said he would treat the enemies of the anointed, and now in Ps 7 David responds to the accusations of his enemies. This cycle of psalms moves toward resolution in the celebration in Ps 8 and the lament over the death of the son in Ps 9.
